In 1976, the United Kingdom was struggling with record levels of unemployment and spiraling inflation. Concerned by the volume of young people being left behind, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales redeployed his £7,400 severance pay from the Royal Navy to fund twenty-one community initiatives encouraging young Britons to start businesses and projects across the country.
These early initiatives were the founding projects of what is now The Prince’s Trust Group, a global network of charities transforming lives and building sustainable communities in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and across the Commonwealth. Together, we work in partnership to promote, support and inspire people and their communities to flourish.
Inspired by His vision, and driven by our values, we believe that change can come from challenge. And where our communities face a challenge, we will rise to meet it.
In Australia, we champion resilient, sustainable communities and support veterans, their families and young people to overcome systemic barriers and reach their full potential. We are committed to collaborative, participant-led, and evidence-based programming.
Our programs are designed to deliver innovative and high impact projects across three focus areas:
- Young People (Achieve)
- Defence Members and their Families (Enterprise for Veterans)
- Sustainable Communities
