For more than 50 years, HRH The Prince of Wales has developed a deep fondness and strong bond with Australia and its people.

• 1966 - HRH is a student at Timbertop, Geelong Grammar in Victoria.

• 1967 - HRH represents The Queen at the memorial service for Prime Minister Harold Holt who disappeared off Cheviot Beach in Victoria.

• 1970 - Royal Tour with The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Anne to celebrate 200 years since Captain Cook’s arrival in Australia.

• 1974 - Visit to open the Anglo-Australian Telescope at Siding Springs. Also swam off Bondi beach and revisited Geelong Grammar.

• 1977 - HRH visits Australia as Patron of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Appeal for Young Australians.

• 1978 - HRH represents The Queen at the funeral of Sir Robert Menzies in Melbourne.

• 1979 - Royal Tour which included being ambushed and kissed on the Cottesloe Beach by a Perth model.

• 1981 - Opens the 50th Anniversary Convention of Apex Clubs of Australia (these clubs across Australia promoted community life) and visits Canberra, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia.

• 1983 - Family tour with Princess Diana and baby Prince William, beginning in Alice Springs.

• 1985 - Visit with Princess Diana to celebrate Victoria’s 150th anniversary.

• 1988 - Tour with Princess Diana to celebrate Australia’s Bicentenary.

• 1994 - Visit celebrating Australia Day in New South Wales, also visiting Fraser Island

• 2005 - Visit to Perth, Alice Springs, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra, including a special visit to Geelong Grammar.

• 2012 - Tour with The Duchess of Cornwall to mark the Queens Diamond Jubilee, taking in Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

• 2015 - Tour with the Duchess of Cornwall of Adelaide, Tanunda, Canberra, Sydney, Albany, and Perth.

• 2018 - Royal Tour to open the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, also visiting Brisbane, Cairns, and the Northern Territory. HRH also visits Bundaberg to celebrate Prince’s Trust Australia’s Low Glow campaign with Greenfleet and Disney ANZ, and convenes His Trust’s Great Barrier Reef roundtable on Lady Elliot Island with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
