Meet The Prince’s Lead Your Own Business program participants

“The nationally accredited qualification alone is incredibly valuable. On top of that, you learn new ways to take on the countless opportunities that will arise.”

After transitioning from the Defence force, former Lance Corporal Warrick Eady was unsure what his next move should be.

A passionate and talented photographer, he decided to start a photography business but didn’t quite have the business sensibilities he needed to see his business flourish.

A friend referred Warrick to The Prince’s Lead Your Own Business program, and Warrick became one of the participants during the program’s 2015 pilot.

Since participating in The Prince’s Lead Your Own Business program throughout 2015, Warrick opened a photography business where he specialises in weddings, fine art and social media content creation.

For Warrick, the skills and confidence he gained from the course have helped him find a clearer sense of direction and purpose.

“The course has given me a strong framework to work with, which is of invaluable assistance when I am overwhelmed with a personal or business problem,” Warrick said.

The program also introduced Warrick to a strong support network of people with a wide spectrum of experience.

“The program is so much more than learning new skills – the teachers, fellow participants and industry professionals I was able to meet through the program is now my network who I can bounce business ideas off and learn from,” he said.

Due to his participation in the program, Warrick was able to personally meet His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales during his Australian Royal Tour in November at a private event in Sydney.

Warrick’s photography business has gone from strength to strength, and working with his passion has been the perfect transition from full time military service into civilian life. Such a smooth transition would not have been possible but for The Prince’s Lead Your Own Business program.

“If there are transitioning Defence members considering applying, I say if business is even potentially on the horizon, it is worth your time applying,” Warrick said.

We thank Warrick for taking the time to share his story with us, and look forward to celebrating his continued success.

The Prince’s Lead Your Own Business program is open to transitioning and recently transitioned ADF members with a business idea. Applications close on February 29.
