Prince’s Trust Australia Appoints New Director for Young People

The Prince’s Trust Australia is pleased to welcome Dean Delia as the newly appointed Director for Young People.

Dean has extensive experience in creating and delivering community engagement programs, especially in the youth sector. Dean previously held the position of General Manager, Community Engagement at the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA).

It is an exciting time for The Prince’s Trust Australia as the organisation continues to grow and deliver projects in its three focus areas: Young People, Defence Members and Their Families, and Sustainable Communities.

Dean will be responsible for the delivery of a range of programs aimed at assisting young people into employment, training or further education.

Over the past 10 years, The Prince’s Trust in the U.K. has supported more than 18,000 young people through the Get Into employment program, working with employers across a variety of industries, including hospitality, retail, construction and logistics.

The Get Into program supports young people to develop sector-specific skills to help them secure long-term employment. In 2017, The Prince’s Trust Australia worked with Adelaide-based youth charity S.Y.C. to pilot the Get Into program. 63 young people completed the program across aged- care, retail, childcare and transport with an 89% retention rate. The addition of Dean to our team will bring this now proven model to a national level, helping young Australians across the country secure meaningful employment.

Chief Executive Janine Kirk AM said: “Dean brings a wealth of knowledge to our growing team. His professional experience within the education and training sectors and expertise in youth-focused program development demonstrates his ability, as well as his passion, for enriching the lives of young Australians”.

Dean joins The Prince’s Trust Australia on 23 August 2018.
