Welcome to our new partner Cunard

Luxury cruise line Cunard expands its partnership with The Prince’s Trust into Australia.

Prince's Trust Australia chair The Hon Julie Bishop and Queen Elizabeth's Captain Howarth celebrate the new partnership.

Luxury cruise line Cunard expands its partnership with The Prince’s Trust into Australia and announces its support for the charity founded by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in 1976. Cunard will support the charity’s efforts in helping young people prepare for the rapidly changing world of work, inspiring veterans and their families into entrepreneurship and self-employment, and championing resilient sustainable communities.

Cunard supports The Prince’s Trust work globally by auctioning off nautical charts, selling merchandise and holding events. This partnership will continue with fundraising events on board Cunard ships, and support of the Trust’s Australian Get Into Maritime project, which trains young First Nations people in the maritime industry.

The Hon Julie Bishop, chair of The Prince’s Trust Australia, launched the partnership by sharing stories of the Trust’s work to Queen Elizabeth guests during an onboard speaking event. She said:

“I was delighted to join the crew and guests on board the Queen Elizabeth this weekend and celebrate the expansion of the Cunard partnership in Australia. Cunard has been an integral and long-standing partner of The Prince’s Trust in the UK, and now with Cunard’s support, we can offer more of our high-impact programmes to those who need them across Australia.”

Katrina McAlpine, Commercial Director Cunard Australia and New Zealand said:

“We are looking forward to collaboratively working to reach The Prince’s Trust’s ambitious fundraising targets to support and inspire Australian youth and veterans. The partnership between Cunard and The Prince’s Trust goes back 15 years in the UK and we are proud to support them locally.”

Prince’s Trust Australia helps defence veterans and their families set up businesses, works with young people helping them to find fulfilling work, and works in the environmental sphere, including disaster recovery. The Prince’s Trust Australia is helping the community of Stokes Bay, Kangaroo Island, to rebuild their community hall, which was devastated in Black Summer.

Cunard recently celebrated 15 years of the partnership in the UK, which was launched during the naming of Cunard’s ship,Queen Victoria in December 2007. The iconic cruise line also works very closely with the recently launched The Prince’s Trust North America.

With the help of guests, crew and shoreside employees, Cunard has raised over £2.7 million (approx. AUD4.7m) so far by creating a varied programme of fundraising activities.
