KANGAROO ISLAND BUSHFIRE RECOVERY COLLABORATION ANNOUNCED
4 August 2020
Prince’s Trust Australia is proud to announce a new partnership with the community of Stokes Bay, Kangaroo Island to assist in the rebuild of the Stokes Bay Community Hall.
Severely damaged during the devastating 2019-20 bushfire season, the Stokes Bay Community Hall was an important gathering place for local residents, and its reconstruction will be a priority in the local bushfire recovery process.
Prince's Trust Australia will support a community consultation process to redevelop the Stokes Bay Community Hall. The consultation process will champion community engagement and feedback while reflecting traditional architecture, environmentally responsible building practices, and disaster resilience techniques.
The consultation process draws on more than twenty years' experience in designing sustainable, vibrant communities across the globe through the BIMBY framework, designed by The Prince's Foundation.
The project will also explore education and training opportunities, including supporting career pathways for local young people and businesses through the redevelopment.
The Stokes Bay Community Hall Committee and Prince's Trust Australia will host the community consultation process in Stokes Bay on 21 August 2020.
Further details to follow.
