Defence Members and their Families

Enterprise for Veterans

Enterprise for Veterans provides transitioning defence personnel, veterans, and family members of defence members with the confidence and skills they need to successfully transition to civilian life as small business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Whether you’re still exploring your next career, or identify as a life-long learner, job seeker, entrepreneur, contractor, freelancer, consultant, social media influencer, or small business owner - we’re here to provide the tools, networks and confidence you need to succeed.

Guided by an Advisory Council chaired by His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), Governor of New South Wales, Enterprise for Veterans is designed to support you on your small business journey – the highs, the lows, and everything in between. We offer one day workshops, short boot camps to solidify your skills and confidence, and a 6-month boot camp for those that need the extra support.

Testimonials

“The program has been integral to our success. Formalising our business plan helped us grow our company in the last 18 months from three founding staff members to nearly 30 people today. The Prince’s Trust Australia was great because it gave us that network and heightened level of business expertise that was able to really push up forward.”

 - Peter

“The support, experience and knowledge provided through this program is without question the difference between operating a highly successful business and potentially becoming one of the statistics. This is an opportunity you will not get anywhere else. It’s not just the course learnings – it’s the networks, the personal mentors with decades of business experience, and the support all the way through the program and post-program that really matter.”

 - Rob

“This is an exceptional opportunity for transitioning members who have the passion and ideas of pursuing self-employment. Not only does it provide the tools to start a business but introduces all participants to an extraordinary group of professionals from various industries who are willing to share their experiences.”

 - Maria

"This course and the people who support it provide the most valuable experience available to anyone still serving or transitioning from Defence. I found my time in Melbourne at RMIT inspiring and I am excited by the prospect of life outside the Australian Defence Force.”

 - Jake

"There is nothing else like this opportunity in Australia. You can’t put a dollar value on the support and quality of the resources and facilitators that we had in this program - it’s incredible.”

 - Cherisa

“I would recommend this course to anyone thinking of starting a small business as a foundation platform to provide clear direction.”

How much does it cost?

For One Day Workshops: To secure your spot, we request a $17 participation fee. This fee helps us offset our program costs and is reinvested back into the program. What will I learn on the 6-month boot camp?

If selected, you will be enrolled online with RMIT University for 4 to 6 weeks prior to the intensive week-long residential program in Melbourne. During this phase, you’re encouraged to prepare for the residential week program by completing two mini projects, for an estimated 2 to 3 hours per week.

During the residential week, participants will begin the bulk of their mini projects, attend plenary sessions with guest speakers, and complete a series of micro credentials on networking, branding, and pitching through ‘RMIT Creds’. Participants will also attend two dinners with business leaders, alumni, sponsors, scholarship providers, and guest speakers, designed to broaden their professional networks.

Participants in the program vary in age, rank, service years, business knowledge and experience. Usually, participants are at an early-stage development of their business
