Prince’s Trust Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of the Hon Julie Bishop as the new Chair of the Board.
The Hon Julie Bishop joined the PTA board in August 2018, and has served as Deputy Chair since August 2019.
PTA extends its thanks to outgoing chair Mr. John Landerer CBE AM for his dedication and leadership over the past two years and acknowledges John’s hard work in building PTA’s charitable programs, stakeholder relationships, and community profile.
John Booth, Chair of Prince’s Trust Council UK said “I thank John Landerer for his hard work and support for the Trust during his term as Chairman. I am delighted to welcome the Hon Julie Bishop as his successor and look forward to the continued flourishing of Prince's Trust Australia.”
Julie’s appointment will be subject to ratification of the PTA board meeting on 25 June.
“I am looking forward to working with the Trust’s Executive Director Justin Hewitt and our talented team and with PTA’s generous patrons, partners, ambassadors and trustees,” she said.
“Reflecting the values and ethos of the charitable work of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in the United Kingdom, I will continue to ensure that Prince’s Trust Australia provides support to Australian communities in three key areas – young people at-risk, veterans and their families, and sustainable urban development and building practices,” Julie said.
The Hon Julie Bishop served as the member for Curtin in the House of Representatives from October 1998 to May 2019, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party from November 2007 to August 2018, and as Australia’s first female Foreign Minister from September 2013 to August 2018. She was appointed Chancellor of the Australian National University from January 2020.
Prince’s Trust Australia is part of a global network of charities established by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, transforming lives and building sustainable communities across the world.
